In the world of irons, blades stand alone as an inspirational piece of equipment used by those who demand precision shotmaking control, as well as those who love a clean, classic shape. In the world of blades, there are few that have stood the test of time as long as the Titleist 680 MB, and for that reason, for a second time, Titleist is releasing in limited quantities the 680MB iron. An iron that is more than two decades old and almost legally able to rent a car.
Let's get down to business.
What separates the 680 MB ("MB" stands for muscle-back irons, which is another term for blade irons) from other blades on the market, including Titleist's own 620 MB, is the more traditional blade profile featuring a slightly higher heel, sharper toe, more offset, and an extremely thin topline. The sole profile is also thinner with more bounce to help the club get through the turf faster.
Another key feature of the 680 MBs is the weaker lofts throughout the set. On average, the 680s have 2 to 3 degrees more loft than the current 620s.
To go along with the traditional shaping, the irons are finished in high-gloss chrome plating—because who doesn't love the look of some high-polish chrome?
The 680 MBs are currently available for custom order only 2, 3, or 4-PW (come on, you know you want the 2-iron) and available in right-handed only.
They're priced at $250 a club and available now until they run out (which we anticipate will be soon.)
