Titleist Completes GT Series with GT1 Woods plus GT2 and GT3 Hybrids

Titleist is completing its GT line of drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids with the launch of the GT1 driver, fairway woods, and hybrids, along with the new GT2 and GT3 hybrids to help golfers achieve the right launch conditions and gapping solutions.

What is at the core of Titleist’s GT line completion?

With a focus on delivering performance for golfers who generate unique launch conditions across the spectrum, the new GT1 woods and hybrids deliver higher launch and ideal spin for low spin players regardless of club head speed.

As for the GT2 and GT3 hybrids—they feature a large inertia boost to add forgiveness (compared to previous Titleist hybrid options) while still offering workability and fitting features for golfers looking for gapping solutions.

“When we began thinking about how we evolve and improve upon the ‘1’ models, we started by tapping into our global network of fitting specialists to understand what it is that would really advance performance for GT1 players," Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Titleist Metalwood Product Development said. "The resounding feedback that we heard across the board for the driver, fairways, and hybrids is that anything we can do to increase launch is going to help this player improve their overall trajectory, consistency and distance. Making the line launch higher, while maintaining optimal spin rates, is really going to benefit both the moderate speed player as well as the player that is naturally low spin.”

Core design features

Seamless Thermoform Crown

Aligning with the rest of the GT line of drivers and fairway woods, the GT1 woods features Titleist’s proprietary matrix polymer crown to help save weight from the top of the club head. This material not only helps create a more ideal weight distribution but also helps the driver maintain a preferred metallic sound at impact.

Split Mass Construction

Similar to the GT2 driver, the GT1 has a split-mass internal construction. This is possible because of the wraparound nature of the matrix polymer crown, which allows engineers to push more weight to the front and back of the head to increase MOI for better stability on mishits and less launch and spin variability on shots hit around the face.

Speed Ring VFT and ATI 425 Face

Thanks to the extra strength and flexibility of the ATI 425 material used in the face, Titleist engineers can thin the middle of the VFT (variable face thickness) face and place a ring of extra mass around the perimeter. This ensures the middle of the face is to the limit for ball speed and the rest of the face preserves as much speed as possible when golfers miss away from the center—because whether you’re a pro or not, we don’t hit the middle all the time.

Split SureFit Weighting

The most noticeable design upgrade with the GT2 and GT3 hybrids is the heel and toe SureFit weights designed to boost MOI and add forgiveness. Rather than relying on one weight (the TSR2) or an adjustable CG - center of gravity track (TSR3), the new dual-weight system in the GT2 and GT3 creates a double-digit percentage boost in MOI to help launch and spin become more consistent.

“When we set out to improve our hybrid lineup, one of the first things we looked at in terms of our design goals was stability," Tom Bennett, Principal Product Manager, Titleist Metalwood R&D said. Hybrid forgiveness is particularly important because for most players, these are scoring clubs. Eliminating excessive distance drop-off is a huge benefit not just off the tee, but maybe even more so in approaching the green.”

GT Woods and Hybrid models

GT1 Driver

With the deepest center of gravity location in the GT line of drivers, the GT1 is designed to help golfers who generate low launch and spin characteristics off the tee keep spin in a window that will increase carry and overall ball flight stability. It is available in an ultra-lightweight configuration, for golfers with moderate club head speeds as well as a standard configuration to put it more in-line with the GT2 to help fit faster golfers who still need extra spin to optimize ball flight.

GT1 Fairway

Just like the driver, the GT1 fairway woods offer the deepest center of gravity in the GT line to boost launch and spin, without sacrificing distance. They also come in ultra-lightweight and standard configurations.

GT1 Hybrid

Stop me if this sounds familiar, but the GT1 hybrids are designed to help golfers generate more launch and shot stopping spin. Jokes aside, this is especially helpful with hybrids because when used as direct iron replacements, they produce reduced rollout which helps to reduce dispersion when approaching greens.

Now speaking of iron replacement, the GT1 hybrids are available in lofts from 20-29 degrees in three degree increments and with the SureFit adjustable hosel they can be dialed into fit the ideal loft and lie for any player.

Titleist GT2 Hybrid (Pre-Order)

Titleist GT2 Hybrid (Pre-Order)

The GT2 hybrid features the highest total MOI across the lineup. It helps to deliver a high ball flight and is packaged in a sleeker, refined profile with a flatter sole design that sits flush to the turf.

GT2 Hybrid

The GT2 hybrid features a flatter sole than its predecessor to increase MOI and to create better turf interaction. The refined profile helps to generate a higher ball flight and more stopping power for golfers who hit into the ball with a shallower and more “wood-like” swing.

Price $330

GT3 Hybrid

This model offers the most workability while still being incredibly forgiving. The smaller and more iron-like profile has more offset than the GT2 or GT1 to help frame the ball and create ideal launch characteristics for golfers who hit more down into the ball like an iron.

For those unsure about how this all comes together - the GT3 hybrid could be characterized as an ultra-adjustable hybrid that plays like an extremely forgiving driving iron.

Price $330
