It’s no secret there’s no love lost between Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau—that’s what made the final round of last year’s Masters must-watch TV.

If you remember, DeChambeau wasn’t too happy Sunday afternoon that McIlroy didn’t talk to him at all throughout the day—how dare he focus on winning the Career Grand Slam? The nerve!

On March 30, Prime Video is set to release “Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait”, a documentary about the Northern Irishman’s fifth major title and how it came to be. McIlroy sat down for an interview that will be featured in the piece, and Prime released a clip from it on Thursday.

In the excerpt, McIlroy details an interaction between himself and DeChambeau on the ninth green during the final round. The tandem was trying to determine who was furthest from the hole, and DeChambeau suggested flipping a tee.

“I’m like, no, this is the final round of the Masters. This isn’t some, like, game on a Tuesday afternoon somewhere,” McIlroy said in the clip. He also said he was proud of himself for standing his ground.

McIlroy made his putt, while DeChambeau missed. Thinking back, McIlroy’s momentum was palpable when they headed to the back nine.

And everyone knows how it ended—McIlroy in the Green Jacket, DeChambeau in a tie for fifth.

If we’re going to get more of these tidbits on March 30, I can’t wait to watch.

*Also new this year, the Masters adds another screen to the mix to watch the action during tournament week. Prime Video will handle the early window for the first two rounds of the tournament, Thursday April 9 and Friday April 10 (1–3 p.m. ET), before coverage moves to ESPN through 7:30 p.m. Come the weekend, it’s back to the usual split: Paramount+ from 12–2 p.m., then CBS to close.
