Would Grant Horvat Accept an Invite Into a PGA TOUR Event?

Grant was "fired up" after his winning putt, but he knows there's a big difference between him and the pros.

Grant Horvat is one of the kings of YouTube golf. His popularity only continues to rise, and that was evident based on the number of people following him at last week’s Creator Classic at TPC Sawgrass on Wednesday before the start of THE PLAYERS Championship.

Horvat had massive galleries all day long and he was one of three players to make it into the playoff with a chance to win. Horvat, George Bryan, and Soly from No Laying Up faced off on the par-3 17th in extra time, with Grant and Soly safely finding the putting surface and George hitting it into the water, all but eliminating him.

After Soly nearly made a lengthy birdie putt, Grant poured his in for the win.

On this week’s episode of Dan On Golf, Skratch’s very own Dan Rapaport was joined by Grant to recap his win at one of the most iconic venues in the game.

“The experience was unbelievable,” Grant said. “I’ve never gotten so many texts and congratulations in my life, I felt like I won the biggest tournament of my life, which was really cool.”

“When I walked up to that first tee and looked at all those people, mentally, at that moment, I thought about all the tour pros out there and how different they are and how they’re built different mentally because they can handle that and they do that week in and week out. It just kinda opened my eyes, I’m like, this is unbelievable playing in front of this many people.”

Now that he’s dealt with a tour-like environment, what would his reaction be if he was offered a spot in a PGA TOUR event?

“I thought about that. I don’t know right now. I have to look within myself and I have to really see if I want to put myself back in one of those situations. I don’t know. Like I said… I truly don’t know what I would do. I think right now, I just love doing YouTube videos and the Creator Classic happened and that was awesome, I never expected to win it. But, it definitely showed me a little something, I will say. It kinda fired me up a little bit after I made that putt to win it and that felt really good.”

“There’s a big difference between me and pros. Huge, huge difference and I think people need to realize that.”

Also on this week’s DOG, Dan recaps Rory McIlroy’s playoff win over J.J. Spaun at THE PLAYERS Championship, Carson Daly chats with Dan at Sawgrass, James Gregg helps with Ryder Cup picks if the event was to start tomorrow, Rick Gehman once again gives his pick for the Valspar Championship, and much more!
