The Chevron Championship Prize Purse Gets a Million Dollar Boost

HOUSTON, Texas — Well that's one way to kick off the first major of the season.

Earlier today, it was announced that the 2026 Chevron Championship prize purse got a million dollar facelift with it now totaling $9 million dollars, the winner will receive $1,350,000.

"At Chevron, we are proud to continue elevating women’s golf by increasing the tournament purse to $9 million and making this a special event for players," said Laura Lane, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Chevron in the announcement. "This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing opportunities in women’s sports, recognizing the exceptional talent of these athletes, and helping the game continue to grow and inspire future generations."

Since its inception, the Chevron Championship has been one of the premier events on the LPGA's schedule. With the love and support of Dinah Shore, often considered the First Lady of women's golf, this tournament has a rich history of legacy and traditions—none more famous than Poppie's Pond.

But elevating the product doesn't just end with the purse. Chevron is providing some pretty cool extracurriculars, too. "We believe this significant increase underscores the value of excellence, competition, and progress—both on and off the course," Lane continued.

Chevron is one of the 11 events on the Tour's schedule that provides a stipend to players to assist with expenses. Players receive $10,000 for the week, their own personal courtesy car compliments of Cadillac, the tournament’s official vehicle sponsor. For past champions, their rides are upgraded to a Bentley for the week!

These are the kinds are perks that are bridging the gap between the women's and men's games—and I hope that this a trend more event sponsors continue to follow.
