Redemption in Shanghai: Jeeno Thitikul's Comeback Win

Safe to say that the four-putt debacle in Cincinnati is far behind the world No.1 after capturing her 6th LPGA title.

The LPGA's 26 consecutive different winner streak has been snapped by none other than the top-ranked player in the world.

In an insane five-hole playoff against Minami Katsu, Jeeno Thitikul battled back to win her sixth LPGA title, her second in 2025. She's the only player with two wins this season.

In her first start since the four-putt fiasco in Cincinnati, Thitikul showed a little rust during the opening round going bogey, double-bogey on her first two holes in Shanghai. But she made quick work in righting her wrongs, firing off 10 birdies in 14 holes, the most of any player in the field on Thursday.

En route to her victory, the 22 year old had to come from four shots back with five holes to play to force a playoff with Katsu. Thitikul shot a 63 in regulation, going 5-under in her last five holes with three consecutive birdies and an eagle on the 17th.

"What happened on the last event [was] definitely still in my mind, but like to be able to prove myself again this tournament, which is...like a dream come true and you know, I'm not carrying a thing on my shoulder," Thitikul said after the playoff.

This is the world No.1's third consecutive finish of second place or better, and her fourth consecutive top-10 finish.

"[I] definitely cried a lot. Not going lie, cried quite a lot," the Thai golfer admitted after her comeback win. "And then I do have like, you know, a really amazing off week, which is we spend time with no golf in Canada and then just like remind me that whatever it's happen, it's the past. And then I'm a human, which is I make a mistake for sure, and then everyone does."
