Michelle Wie West is the gift that keeps on giving.
As one of golf's most beloved figures, Wiezy is proof that having swag is indeed a forever thing. The five-time LPGA winner has announced that she's coming out of retirement this year (sorta) and her slate of events is pretty epic.
It began with her announcing that she'll play in the inaugural WTGL season coming later this year. Then she hit us all with the massive flex of cashing in on her final year of U.S. Open exemption to make her debut at Riviera. And earlier today, Wie West announced that she won't just be the tournament host at Mizuho this year, she's also playing in it on a sponsor invitation!
For the last three years, the Mizuho Americas Open has been a staple of the spring swing on the LPGA calendar. Since it's inception, the event has been contested at Liberty National just across the Hudson with impeccable views of Manhattan's skyline as the backdrop. This year things will look a little different with the new venue change to Mountain Ridge Country Club in Northern New Jersey.

Location aside, Mizuho is one of my favorite weeks because alongside the pros, a group of top-ranked AJGA amateurs will tee it up, too in their own division. Wie West also oversees the mentor program that pairs a pro and a junior golfer together.
"When I was presented with the idea for me to play, I couldn’t think of a better time to return to the course and compete with the world’s best golfers, as well as have the opportunity to play alongside the top AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) girls," Wie West said at Mizuho's media day. It's not a full comeback, with just two events on her plate, but it's something fans can and should be excited for.
Mizhuo is all around one of the best events on the schedule, and there's plenty of good reasons to tap in! May 7th can't get here soon enough!
