What does a 16-year-old amateur have in common with world No.1s Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda? Equipment.
TaylorMade Golf just announced the signing of top-ranked junior Asterisk Talley as the newest member of the brand's family. Fresh off victories at the AJGA Fortinet Stanford Invitational and ANNIKA Junior Invitational, Talley is quickly cementing herself as the standout junior to watch this year.
With all eyes on players like Luke Canton, who's dominating the men's college scene and securing his tour card already, Talley is stealth-fully making her mark in the women's game—collecting milestones that feel reminiscent of what we saw from Rose Zhang just a couple of years ago.
We saw Talley's name rise to stardom at last year's U.S. Women's Open where she tied for low amateur at the notoriously difficult Lancaster Country Club (famously Nelly Korda made a 10 on the par-3 12th). The junior golfer charmed us all when she candidly admitted during a post-round interview on the Golf Channel that she had quite a lot of homework to do, despite making the cut.
Asterisk, which means "Little Star" in Greek, is certainly living up to her name. Her impressive resume includes:
Accomplishment aside, Talley seems to be young star with a good head on her shoulders, which is why TaylorMade sought her out.
“As a company that’s always looking to the future, we prioritize cultivating relationships with top-tier youth talent, and Asterisk certainly fits that mold. Her accomplishments at such a young age are remarkable. But just as importantly, she’s a phenomenal young woman of standup character. We couldn’t be more excited about our partnership with Asterisk; she has a tremendously bright future ahead both on and off the course," said Eddie Erkmanis, TaylorMade's Vice President of Sports Marketing.
Talley will tee it up in the sixth annual Augusta National Women's Amateur in a couple of weeks. She will be making her second ANWA start, she finished inside the top 10 in her debut last year.
