The PGA Championship is off to a soggy, soggy start.
Heavy rain is pouring down on Quail Hollow on Monday, softening up the lengthy course which is set to host the year’s second major championship for the first time since Justin Thomas’ win in 2017.
Players were out early this morning to get some work in, including three-time Wanamaker winner Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, but Hideki Matsuyama is taking it to another level.

The Japanese star spends a lot of time on the practice putting green dialing in his stroke, but I’m not sure if the practice he’s putting in on Monday will benefit him at all.
Putting through this much rain? That’s a sicko move, Hideki.
Over his last six PGA Championship appearances, the 2021 Masters champ has just one top-20 finish (T-16, 2019) and has failed to crack the top 10.
As for his course history at Quail, Matsuyama finished T-5 at the ‘17 PGA, three shots behind Thomas.
