It didn’t take long for Bryson DeChambeau’s name to dominate headlines at Bethpage Black—Brandel Chamblee just couldn't help himself.

But outside of all the tabloid talk, I can’t wait to see that golf gladiator, as teammate Xander Schauffele dubbed him, tee off the first hole on Friday morning.

If you’re unfamiliar with Bethpage Black’s opening par-4, it’s a dogleg right that would make any mere mortal happy just hitting the fairway. But Bryson is no mere mortal. This psycho is going to try and drive the green—that’s if he stays with his practice round strategy, of course. It helps, of course, that the first tee box has been moved to favor the attempt. Teammate Justin Thomas and opponent Rory McIlroy were also seen letting the big dog eat.

I mean, just look at this.

I can picture it now. The New York crowd going absolutely nuts, Bryson hyping them up, and swinging out of his shoes to send an earlier lightning bolt through the gallery.
