On Wednesday, the International Olympic Committee announced mixed-gender events will be coming to the 2028 games and that includes golf.
"The mixed events are a real true embodiment of gender equality—men and women competing in the same team, on the same field of play for their country. We've seen the real success of these (mixed-gender events). They bring something incredibly special for the athletes involved,” IOC sports director Kit McConnell said.
Although the exact format hasn’t been nailed down, it’s tough not to get excited about this. The Olympic golf competition needed a spark, it needed a new lane. This is the perfect answer.
But it also got me thinking, who would be my dream pairings at Riviera Country Club in 2028?
Here's my top three.
Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda, United States

This was the obvious answer, just a really easy call. If the United States wants to pencil in a gold medal, these are the two players you send out. No-brainer. Scheffler won the gold medal in 2024 while Korda won hers in 2021.
Min Woo Lee and Minjee Lee, Australia

I mean, would it get any better than this? A brother-sister duo playing side-by-side in the Olympics? That’s the dream. They both represented Australia last year, so what says they can’t do it again?
Tyrrell Hatton and Charley Hull, England

Making the Olympics while playing on the LIV Golf tour isn’t exactly the easiest thing to do, but this is a dream scenario! Hatton and Hull would be a diabolical pairing and the content would be insane. Just a couple loose cannons getting after it. That’s what I’m talking about.
