There’s nothing more relatable for golf fans than watching a pro freak out on the course. It’s cleansing for the soul. For those few minutes, they’re just like us.
It’s usually a swear, a club toss, maybe throwing a ball into a water hazard. Well, Patton Kizzire took his tantrum to the next level on Thursday during the first round of the Valspar Championship.
On the par-3 15th—he teed off on the back nine, so it was his sixth hole of the day—Kizzire hit his tee shot on the green, 42 feet from the hole. His first putt ran a bit by the cup, leaving him a five-footer for par. He shoved his second putt and just like Pat McAfee, punted the absolute crap outta his putter. This thing went on a long journey in the air and was completely bent out of shape once it returned to Earth.
This is borderline impressive.
Kizzire withdrew from the event citing a bad back. Wonder if he pulled something during his tantrum.
The world No. 128 won the Procore Championship in September, but it’s been all downhill since. He began 2025 with a T-40 finish at The Sentry, but missed six cuts in a row entering the Valspar.
Easy to see why the frustration boiled over.
