Major season is officially underway, but I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to top what we got at Augusta National on Sunday. There’s truly nowhere to go but down. Let’s just hope it’s not too much of a downgrade—or I will happily eat my words if this is only the beginning for a record year in golf.
In 30 days, the PGA Championship will kick off at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. This track is the annual host of the Truist Championship—formally known as the Wells Fargo Championship—so PGA Tour fans should be pretty familiar with the venue. On top of hosting the 2017 PGA—a tournament won by Justin Thomas—Quail Hollow also staged the Presidents Cup in 2022.

Taking a scroll through the betting odds, it’s no surprise to see Rory McIlroy as the favorite a month out from the first round. He’s already won three times this season: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, THE PLAYERS, and Masters. I guess that’s an okay way to start the year. Plus he’s dominated at Quail Hollow throughout his career.
In 12 starts, McIlroy has finished inside the top-10 nine times and won four times. Pure domination. At the PGA eight years ago, the Northern Irishman tied for 22nd.
Let’s take a look at some of the other favorites for the PGA Championship.
