THE PLAYERS Championship, the PGA TOUR’s flagship event, gets underway Thursday morning with the game’s best players set to take on Pete Dye’s TPC Sawgrass and the famous par-3 17th.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is back a year after becoming the first player to ever win back-to-back PLAYERS titles. Now, he looks for a three-peat.

Joining him in the field are Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Aberg, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, and Hideki Matsuyama, among dozens of other stars.

This week’s winner will go home with $4.5 million of the $25 million purse and 750 FedEx Cup points. TPC Sawgrass is a par 72 that will play 7,352 yards this week.
