In Shane Bacon's 2025 Pro Golf Wish List, he asked the golf gods for Jason Day to wear a tank top during a tournament this year. And while we haven't been blessed with that yet, on Tuesday at Torrey Pines during a practice round for the Farmer's Insurance Open, Day showed up—and took to the course—wearing what I can only describe as my go-to work-from-home fit.
In a big ol' pair of Malbon sweatpants and matching crewneck, Day took one small step for a man, and one giant leap for the cozy boy in all of us. The internet, justifiably, came calling.
Beyond the audacity, I gotta say, it takes a guy with a demeanor like Day, in the type of oversized silhouette Malbon provides, to pull this off. (A subtle black polo underneath helps play by the rules without dorking it up)
But the audacity is what I'm here to applaud. Between the Masters vest, the monochrome moments, the introduction to the golf world of—GASP—wide-leg trousers, and now, the downright power move of showing up in sweats, Jason Day has solidified himself as the most stylish pro in the game.
His contemporaries in the category—guys like Adam Scott, Min Woo Lee, and Keith Mitchell—all hold their own in regard to making considered choices. But Day's combination of sensibility and willingness to push the envelope is, ultimately, the best thing for the sport, sartorially speaking.
The closest thing Malbon's got on its site right now is the Bon Script sweatpant.

BUY NOWAnd then there's the pair he wore on Wednesday for round one. They come from Malbon's Preserve collection, which is an ode to outdoor luxury. In the latter department, they'll run ya 250 bucks. But they are among the most considered designs of all of Malbon's regularly considered designs. Mostly nylon, a great silhouette, flexible enough for golf. They might not be as one-of-a-kind as the price tag suggests, but if I'm Jason Day, I'm wearing them out.
We've still got a few days left at Torry and I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Jason Day wears next.
And sure, let's see if Ludvig can go wire to wire, that'd be cool, too.
