The season of renewal and revitalization is just around the corner. As spring rapidly approaches, many of you may be looking to revamp and refresh your post-winter wardrobes. But beware of a common and frequent springtime fashion faux pas—florals. The iconic Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada said it best, "Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking."
She changed many people's brain chemistry with those four words, and the course of history if we're being honest. It's not a statement of saying don't embrace flowery motifs this season, but be intentional about how you wear them. If you're reading this, you probably care about style more than the average golf consumer (Skratch readers have great taste, it's a fact)—so heed this advice and open yourself up to how to incorporate florals this spring that go beyond the multi-colored, micro-printed flower polos that have taken precedent in golf fashion.
Featured Brands: Fiori | Radmor | G/FORE | Gumtree Golf & Nature Club | Asher | Bugatchi | Bonobos | Dunning

Not to be so "nail on the head" obvious, but how could we curate a list of florals for golf and not include a brand that's named after the Italian word for flowers. Fiori's genetic makeup is rooted in technical and performance wear that's heavily influenced by the timelessness and refinement of Italian coastal style. It's a delicate dance, finding the right balance of sporty and functional yet fashion-forward—and Fiori does it through classic golf silhouettes with touches of softer elements like utilizing paisley patterned polos and stylized flower structures throughout its pieces. And the cherry on top, is the muted color palette of soft grays, pinks, and blues that balance each other out amongst the slightly more saturated earthy hues.
This fleecy mid-layer has been selling out—and for good reason. It's minimal in design but the soft color-blocked detailing is so refreshing, it doesn't look like any other golf hoodie we've seen. And the simple logo in the center of the chest is perfect placement.

There's beauty in simplicity, like our friends at Fiori, but the other side of the spectrum is embracing boldness. With broad, very defined lines (like the thick brush strokes of a Van Gogh), Radmor takes a much more blatant approach to florals—and it works.
There's no hiding or subtlety to Radmor florals, you're making a conscious fashion statement going this route and we applaud it. It's a pleasant departure from micro-printed flowers, yet when styling, you need to follow a similar recipe. Choose one color, preferably a cooler-toned neutral (black or blue) and stick to it. From your bottoms to your accessories, allow for a statement polo to do the heavy lifting, and be the focal point of your fit.
You're really thinking green with this polo. Not only is this a fun floral option, but the material and fabrication is sustainable—using 90% recycled polyester.

This is a fun one. We're combining color and print design, and it's not for the faint of heart. G/FORE has built a reputation for its vibrant and saturated colors and this fits the bill but not in the usual way. The blurred effect onto the macro-printed flower design is refreshingly trendy—it's the opposite of what we're so used to seeing. Micro-prints often feel like an eye illusion, blurring together to make up a solid image (think TV pixels), but this is like the blown out version, like you're peering through a microscope...and we dig it.
The light and dark blue hues add a bit of edge to this unique floral design—and would pair well with just about any darker neutral for a fun on-course fit.

There's something very pleasing about a brand that captures the essence of masculine and feminine in such a clean and concise way—Gumtree Golf & Nature Club does exactly that. It's not a male or female brand, it's simply a golf brand that immerses you into the environment of golf. It's about the bigger, more tangible space that we interact with in this game. The floral offerings from Gumtree aren't manufactured, they're organic and inspired by real life.
The NY Collection, inspired by and shot in the Big Apple, masterfully uses budding branches to showcase a different lens of the bustling city. You don't think of nature when you picture New York but you do see the opportunity or rebirth and growth in this city and the very intentional symbolism is beautiful.
Florals don't always have to be so obvious, branches and budding blooms count just as much.

Consider this our elevated take on a Hawaiian shirt. The water-colored effect palm motif is effortlessly cool. It just feels more sophisticated and polished and doesn't shy away from color (the plum color way would be perfect to add to your springtime on-course rotation.
Asher's color stories are a thing of beauty and whenever you need a dose vibrance, let them be your guide.
Imagine you on your next golf trip walking up to first tee in this polo—definitely in a pairs of looser fitted chinos for that relaxed vibe—but topped off by a classic golf shoe silhouette to pull it all together...chef's kiss.

Leaves feel floral-adjacent, which is why this Bugatchi polo works in our book. Again, we're going for a less obvious option so that you don't fall into category basic. (You either lean in hard, or play coy toying the line.)
From a distance, it just appears to be another light and airy polo, but upon closer inspection onlookers will see a bit of depth and texture—that's the beauty of fine line detailing, it's creating an illusion that's more intriguing than distracting.
It's all about the details with this polo. The tame leaf-print contrasts well with the solid rib collar and cuffs for a very seamless look.

The way Bonobos does menswear feels very young, city guy chic. It's for the guy who will unapologetically order an espresso martini at happy hour because they remind him of an adult chocolate milk and that's why he loves them. It's a brand for the type of guy who craves refinement and classic tailoring but doesn't mind a pop of color or pattern thrown into the mix, either. This take on a floral polo is a manifestation of all of that.
It's abstract and stylized and uses complementing colors to create something bold yet approachable. It's fun and a bit whimsy which is why it would work so well with classic pieces like chinos, or if you wanted to make it edgier you can go for a more technical trouser.
Looking good under $60? Yes, please. This polo is selling fast so grab it while you can.

We can't end this list without featuring some sort of micro-printed flower polo to be used a beacon of light. Micro-prints can be done well, and Dunning pulls off the vine motif beautifully. It's monochromatic and tonal, meaning they committed to the print being the statement and don't try to overdue it with color. The branding is minimal with no obvious logos or over the top finishes on the collar, buttons, or sleeves. And the classic, performance polo silhouette is enhanced by the floral pattern, making it more interesting and texturized than if it were just a solid color.
It's an upscaled take on a golf style classic. Micro-prints have never looked better.
