Megha Ganne, the belle of the ball, is all anyone can talk about after the first round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur. The Stanford golfer fired a new tournament record 9-under 63, setting the pace for the most talked about event in women's amateur golf.
The previous tournament record belonged to Ganne's former Stanford teammate Rose Zhang, who won the event back in 2023. Ganne teased that she may have to rub this one in Zhang's face a bit, "I don't know if I will [text her]. I probably should now that you bring it up. That's probably the first time I can say I've beaten her in something, so I will."
Watching Ganne felt like watching a video game. Putt after putt, fairway after fairway—it was steady golf the entire round.
The only thing cleaner than her scorecard? Her fit.
The 21-year-old stepped onto Champions Retreat Golf Club in a monochromatic look from RLX, capped off with some G/FORE kicks to match.
When we talked to Ganne about her scripting she deferred credit to the team at RLX, "This is -- Ralph Lauren picks this outfit out. They just told me what to wear, and I wear it, but I absolutely love it. I picked the shoes, though, so that's my contribution, and the blue hat, yeah.
There's a couple more monochrome outfits. I love wearing golf clothes that are fun, so it's definitely one of the thing I'm looking forward to is seeing the next few outfits."
We're practically licking our chops, waiting to see what else is in store. The head-to-toe navy was classic, yet the pleated skirt that flowed around her with each swing gave us tastes of youthful femininity. And get a load of that cashmere hoodie. RLX has made a name for themselves in the hoodie game, we still dream about that 2021 Ryder Cup hoodie (you know the one), and the one Ganne sported is another easy favorite.
Ganne is the only amateur ambassador on the RLX golf roster, but don't be fooled by her status, this is next level scripting that screams vet. And in a way, Ganne is. This is her fifth ANWA, and prior to the tournament's existence she was a four-time Drive, Chip, and Putt finalist—Augusta has become a bit like her stomping grounds.
It was cool, chic, and very much the perfect way to do scripting for this event. While others opted to rep their school's team uniforms, Ganne stood out among the rest—and we agree, she looked right at home.
