Michael La Sasso is not a name I expected to see on LIV Golf’s roster, but here we are. The reigning NCAA champion is joining Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC, with the start of LIV’s season—Saudi Arabia, Feb. 4-7—just a few weeks away.
But this move is going to cost La Sasso significantly.
The senior at Ole Miss will not only forfeit his remaining college eligibility, but also the Masters invitation he earned with his win at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa last May. With LIV players still not earning World Ranking points, it’s impossible to know when La Sasso will play on one of golf’s biggest stages.

But who knows, maybe the guaranteed paycheck was enough to push a potential legacy aside.
For LIV, this is a great get. Its signings throughout the offseason have been, to put it politely, subpar, but La Sasso brings youth and high-potential.
After missing the cut at the U.S. Open last season, La Sasso made four starts on the PGA TOUR. He missed three cuts and tied for 44th at the 3M Open.
