Some of us lifelong golfers are still waiting for the day when we sprint off the tee box, swirling a recently removed polo in the air, celebrating an elusive 1—because yeah, I’ll probably take my shirt off when I finally get it done, shoutout Bobby Fairways.
Well, Englishman Dale Whitnell put us all to shame on Friday during the second round of the DP World Tour’s Investec South African Open Championship where he made two(!!) holes-in-one in an 11-hole stretch.
In all, Whitnell made two aces, an eagle at the par-5 third, seven birdies, two bogeys and a double on his way to a 9-under 63. As our friend Shane Bacon would say, that’s a psycho scorecard.
"Five under through three. Never done that before,” he said after his round. “Then I got another hole-in-one. Bizarre!"
And like the class act he is, Whitnell provided the drinks for the afternoon.
The last player to make two aces in one round was Brian Harman at the 2015 Barclays.
From Jake Knapp’s 59 on Thursday and now Whitnell’s snake eyes, there’s been some unbelievable golf over the last few days.
